この曲はリリースされなかった「Camille」「Crystal Ball」に収録される予定でしたが結局 「Sign O' The Times Super Deluxe Edition」に収録されるまで表に出てきませんでした。

タイトルの「Rebirth of the Flesh」とは宗教から来てるのではないかなと私は思いました。死んで生まれ変わるのではなくて新しい俺たちの音楽を聴いて生まれ変わろうぜという意味でしょうか

Souli-a-coliaってなんか意味あるのかなと調べてみましたが、プリンスの造語のようです。

もともとこの曲はプリンスが崇拝するジョニ・ミッチェルのために作った曲です。ジョニが断った理由はただ単に曲が気に入らなかっただけのようです。
1988年オークランド・サン誌にジョニが語っています。記事元こちら

「彼は私たちとの２つの音楽で何か彼がいままでやったことないような事が起こるとを示唆していました。
私が彼にそれを説明するように言いましたが、彼は言葉にすることができないと言ってました。
最も近い表現で言うと、私のオープンハーモニーとファンクを組み合わせて新しいハイブリッドにするということでした。
私は彼に何故曲を作らないの？と聞きました。そして彼は”エモーショナルパンプ　あなたは私のエモーショナルパンプ　私の体を躍らせる”と歌う曲を送ってきました。私は彼に電話をかけて私はここの曲はできないわと言いました。
私はこれは歌えないわ、黒い下着（テディ）を来て歌わなくちゃならないじゃない。黒い下着で私が飛び回ると思う？
そういったらプリンスは『あぁジョニ　もうそんなことはしないよ！』と言いました」

ジョニ・ミッチェルは詳しくはないのですが、美しい綺麗な歌声に美しいポエムのような歌詞と優しいメロディのイメージがあるので、この曲とジョニのイメージがピンと来ないのですがプリンスには最適と思ったのでしょうか。
